scam alert

You can't believe everything you read. It turns out that a lot of the "administrative assistant" jobs that I applied for through craigslist have been scams. I got responses to many of them, all of which were about the same. All of the responses wanted me to come in for an interview but first get my credit report for them to view. They all had a great reason for me to need my credit report, I'd have a company credit card, I'd be getting petty cash, etc. I was suspicious about all of this and typed a company name + scam into google, and there was a lot of information on the employment scam. Since all of the other emails I had received from other companies were almost identical, I assumed all were scams. I just don't understand what kind of person sits at home and thinks it's right to come up with these scams. You trick unemployed people for a living? Wow. I just think it's awful. I'm not that upset anymore, because I didn't click on the links or get my credit information or anything, but still. Ugh.

Anywho, the job hunt is still going obviously. I felt pretty good about some resumes I sent in for leasing jobs yesterday. I've also been sending some things to San Diego, because I figure I'll just move there now if I get a job. I found an apartment I really like, but I'm going to wait until I have a job before applying/signing anything.

Other than that, yesterday was a fun day. Jo and I picked Maggie up from work around 12:30ish and we went to lunch. Then we went on a shopping trip as part of Jo's birthday present. It was a really fun, stereotypical girls' day.

We picked up Will from daycare and he was in a great mood. I kept asking Will if he wanted to go in the pool (just a kiddie pool in the backyard) with me, but he kept saying "no." Eventually I decided that I was hot enough to go in by myself. Of course I had only started to set it up before Will was tearing off his clothing getting excited about the pool. Maggie and Jo started dinner while Will and I played in the pool for a long time. We splashed with our hands, kicked with our feet, jumped up and threw our bodies down (ouch), and blew bubbles. It was a pretty eventful afternoon in the pool. He was wearing his new swimsuit which turned out to be a bit big. Eventually it was just easy to take it off and go skinny dipping. I'm pretty sure there's nothing cuter than that.

Eventually we had a delicious dinner (duh) of ricotta stuffed chicken. Maggie made these drinks that were some concoction of lemon and basil and vodka. You have to be careful with them, they go down MUCH easier than expected. I'm pretty sure they are going to be my summer drink of choice - they're just so refreshing.

After cleaning up from dinner, putting Will to bed, and Skyping with Kate, Patrick, and Samara, we decided to play a friendly game of Pictionary. I swear the last time I played Pictionary was in the library and the farm...that long ago. It turns out that certain Kecks are pretty competitive. I always enjoy the friendly trash talk and turn out to be pretty darned competitive, but Maggie really shocked me. That girl has a strong competitive streak. What made it worse was that Maggie and I were on the same team. We played two loud and hilarious games of Pictionary. Both teams won one game. Next thing we knew, it was 11:45. Somehow Will didn't wake up between all of the yelling and laughing. It was such a blast of an evening.

I wouldn't mind having a re-match tonight, but we'll see how that goes. I'm going to apply for more jobs and make a summer-y dessert for tonight with Jo. By the way, how is it July already? Is that really true? Geez!

I only have a couple pictures today. The one picture is of two drawings drawn during an all play from Pictionary. Jo and Maggie were both drawing and interestingly both drew the exact same thing without knowing. Can you guess what it is? The other drawing is a picture that Maggie drew for me to guess. Would you have said Barney? It's a miracle we even won one game with that artist.
